I'm like halfway though "House Atreides" and I'm getting a fan fiction type vibe. It's a lot of fan service and over explanation of character motives. Over all seems rather weak. Maybe I'm not giving it a fair shake. I've put it down.

Kevin J Anderson is the sort of fanboy who was responsible for the beshitting of Star Wars EU. I would guess his Dune work isn’t better.

He did the Jedi Academy Trilogy with Admiral Dullard and the novel DorkSaber. Guy loved his super weapons. Then he and his partner Rebecca Moesta did the Young Jedi Knights series that was painful. Later he was given a job as “editor” of the Tales From series of Star Wars anthologies. They weren’t great and he wasn’t even the author.

Egh...

Was disappointing for me as I really enjoyed Dune Chapter House and then this was offered next. I know there is a ton of other Dune books out there, I don't know maybe some are good, but House Atreides isn't it.
