I'm like halfway though "House Atreides" and I'm getting a fan fiction type vibe. It's a lot of fan service and over explanation of character motives. Over all seems rather weak. Maybe I'm not giving it a fair shake. I've put it down.

Dosadi Experiment and the Santaroga Barrier by Frank. Not Dune and recommendable. You need to try another wave/node.
