Finally finished this beast. You wouldn't think an 1850s serialized satire about 1815ish British society would get you chuckling today, but man did WM Thackeray have a pulse on the human mind and its psychology/sociology. Funny as hell, and as the subtitle says... there is no hero. There are many adaptations on screen; I watched BBC's 1998 version and ITV's 2018 version - the latter is superb and the best yet (https://poal.co/s/Tv/60645) - even uses pop music in places, sort of takes you by surprise, nicely.
