Our history is being overwritten. Our classics are being "corrected." Huckleberry Finn doesn't contain the word "nigger" anymore. Neither does To Kill A Mockingbird. Forbidden truths are ignored or denied. We may well reach a stage of oppression where only older books, published before the coming of the fascists, are to be trusted and believed.

Electronic information is too malleable to be trusted. The pages on Wikipedia change on a daily basis. Dictionaries are being re-written to "update" the meanings of words. Today, we've never been at war with East Asia ... tomorrow, we've always been at war with East Asia. "They're here! They're here!" Whatever you do, don't fall asleep.

Farenheit 451 isn't about censorship or book burning. It's a means to an end. It's about fascism/totalitarianism and the means of control within the state. It's about programming the masses with controlled technology whereby they can't allow competing products (example, books) else the zombies might awaken.

amazon has a near monopoly on book sales. if they refuse to sell a book its about as close to book burning as one can get.
