Although the whole beat movement was mostly centered around the gay kike Allen Ginsberg, and although it was a very degenerate movement for the time period, I do have a lotta respect for Jack Kerouac as a writer, especially writing about his own experiences traveling.

If you ever find yourself in Austin, head to the Harry Ransom Center on The University of Texas campus. It houses, amongst countless other original literary gems and cultural treasures, the 120 ft On The Road scroll that ol Jack banged out in a Benzedrine fueled explosion of stream of thought and consciousness spontaneity.

Imagine yourself a young radical in the 1960s, and you go on a road trip with some friends. Then you write a book about it. And that's all you do of any significance for the entire remainder of your life. That is the only thing anyone knows about you or remembers about you. "Oh yeah, that guy who wrote about the road trip." It would be depressing enough to drive you off the illegal drugs.

I confuse him with Ginsberg myself.

Degenerate half a fag man child booze hound speed freak who elevated to a high art the shirking of all responsibility to chase the mad cats who burn burn burn with sodomy, sauce and junk down the holy crazy cool road while leaving wives, children and mothers in their wake to fend for and feed themselves.
