I keep coming across mentions of this Roland character in passing. I.e. the "Roland Special" pistol that General Scott Miller carries around named after the character in the books. I've never been a big fantasy reader; I always liked the Dune series (I guess that's not really in the genre) but thought the Elric of Melnibone series was ok at best. I've read some other fantasy books that were pretty terrible.

I don't care about the movie where they cast a nigger as Roland.

Nice, maybe a sticky is in order?

Can you recommend something along the lines of La Bas, Foucault's Pendulum, Zanoni and The Club Dumas? If you read those kinds of books. I never read The Illuminatus Trilogy but it's on my list.

14 by Peter Clines. Its not quite as grand in scale but it is a solid mystery with lovecraftian overtones if that interests you.
