I keep coming across mentions of this Roland character in passing. I.e. the "Roland Special" pistol that General Scott Miller carries around named after the character in the books. I've never been a big fantasy reader; I always liked the Dune series (I guess that's not really in the genre) but thought the Elric of Melnibone series was ok at best. I've read some other fantasy books that were pretty terrible. I don't care about the movie where they cast a nigger as Roland.
