Blindsight hearkens back to older scifi for me. Back when it was half existential horror. I liked it.

That's what I loved about it, I remember cracking open some of the pulpier sci-fi and just immediately knowing there was no happy end in store. I got the same feeling from Blindsight, it's a book that masters Lovecraftian horror so effortlessly.
