Looking to read some non-kiked books on stoicism. I might start with Discourses of Epictetus, but I'm looking for more on the subject.

Mein Kampf is really the only one you need. Or anything by Marcus Aurelius, in a pinch.

Mein Kampf will be added to the list, thanks. Not sure why I have yet to read it.

Have you ever read Karl Marx? Because both Adolf and Benito sure have.

I have little interest in karl marx at this time. I am currently reading the Gulag Archipelago. Although I'm sure I could learn a lot from that commie book of his.

I need to remember that name Marcus Aurelius. I have a copy of Mein Kampf but I admit I need to read it again

Stoicism is based on personal responsibility guided by a moral compass of self discipline and frugality. To treat others as you wished to be treated "while sober". The concept only works in a Society that executes their insane defectives while legally enslaving the self medicated druggies/drunks. A beautiful concept that requires one to be vulnerable to predators and abuse of power at the local level.

That's a very interesting take, I will keep it in mind. I don't plan on making stoicism my religion, but I'm sure quite a bit can be gleaned from the subject. Better than Taoism..

I don’t know what that is but I want to read it as well now.

Epictetus was a Greek Stoic philosopher. He was born a slave at Hierapolis, Phrygia and lived in Rome until his banishment, when he went to Nicopolis in northwestern Greece for the rest of his life. His teachings were written down and published by his pupil Arrian in his Discourses and Enchiridion. Epictetus taught that philosophy is a way of life and not just a theoretical discipline. To Epictetus, all external events are beyond our control; we should accept whatever happens calmly and dispassionately. However, individuals are responsible for their own actions, which they can examine and control through rigorous self-discipline. Kikepedia

I screen shotted all that shit. I literally lurk here just for these types of nuggets and pearls

I read his Enchiridion as a young man, and it served me well.

Thank you! Funny how finding ancient texts for free can be easier than finding modern copyrighted material for free now days..

You're welcome. That is a very interesting observation. It is indeed quite surprising that older writings are more easily found and acquired than 'modern' writings, especially considering the effort that is put into censoring and re-writing the past.

Without knowing your views regarding jews or if you have interest in very old writings regarding them, this post was made on voat back in November. You might find the books listed and available in it of interest.

I have it all in text form with clickable links if you would like me to make replies to you with all 451 books (not sure on comment character limits, so might be several replies to list them all).

That post is pure gold! Please do, and thanks again friend. I need to study up on the juden.
