Fuck I’d remove motion gif functionality. When the web needed to be optimized for speed and not shoveling down all the cool latest tech. I don't even hate gopher as I grew up on text-only services like BBSes, I just find it strange that someone would forgo modern tech (not even really modern, html got image support in either 95 or 96) and assume it automatically has nefarious purposes.
