You think that those sites didn't use JS? You think JS is just for steam? You do know that the mid to late-90s www was a plugin-laden landscape? If you trusted Shockwave Flash, Quicktime, Realplayer, Java, etc to load your browser down with plugins so you could access that content, then why distrust your browser's scripting engine? Those plugins were far more dangerous and invasive than JS which is restricted in its design. Plugins also made your browser heavy and unstable. Remember people running executables on your system through bugs in ActiveX and JavaVM? Come on man.
No I don’t trust any of that. My point is you don’t need push notifications, embedded shit, endless trackers. The web worked fine and the main functions simply don’t need it. Fuck I’d remove motion gif functionality. When the web needed to be optimized for speed and not shoveling down all the cool latest tech. No one cares about load times anymore since everything is fast.
Sounds like fucking MySpace and glitter banners. Fuck all that
Sounds like I hit a nerve with a programmer that relay on this fucking garbage.
Imagine being this unhinged about scripting engines. I'm sure people are lining up around the block for your no-features having 1996 looking websites that don't look or function like the client wants. Please tell me you also hate CSS.
>animated gifs are just too much, rip that shit out too
You know there is an old protocol called "gopher" - it's just text and links. You'd love it because there is no features other than text & linking.
I know it well. No inline image rendering.
I see I stepped on a nerve.
Maybe just go back to app programming for the government to build your back doors.
