Not the worst about people, but yes about the tech that can be used for nefarious purposes.

Case in point: webp &webm

But I do like a good argument. I still don’t agree we need all the client side functionality. But then again, me loves me some rss.

What's going on with webp and webm? Is it something like the mov format where you can embed a url that the player pings in the background without your knowledge?

You should maybe look up the ability to do deep tracking and the security risks with it. It’s a cancer.
