If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed. William H. McRaven

The quote assumes that you have a bed, that the bed is probably placed in some sort of shelter, and you had the money to rent or purchase the bed and shelter. Assuming that you did not inherit the money or that it was gifted to you, you had to take personal responsibility to acquire this money. This means that you can change the world.

Why?

Personal Responsibility is the fundamental way in which everybody interacts with society.

All the way from the highest paid CEO, to the President of a country, to you; it is all the same. We all show up for work. We are all held accountable for the work that we do or do not do. We can be fired.

So what variables can you change? What do you have control over?

Financial situation, mental thoughts, your time spent in interactions with the physical world are but a few things you have control over in this world.

Resources are not infinite. You are mortal. You will die.

What are you going to do with your finite amount of time in this universe?

Play? Get drunk? Have kids? Help the poor? Go to university?

Choose carefully.

Ultimately, YOU DECIDE!!!

I'm directed as of late to help others. Even if they don't want it. I'll see how it goes

That's the beautiful thing about the internet; it can change lives across the world.

"Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, Choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players, and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol and dental insurance. Choose fixed-interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisure wear and matching luggage. Choose a three piece suite on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked-up brats you have spawned to replace yourselves. Choose your future. Choose life . . .

But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life: I chose something else.

And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got heroin?"
