Fortunately, I dumped my insanely overpriced house in the city when demand was still high. My realtor boasted they could sell my house way over market prices. I laughed and then I was in shock after it happened. I moved to the woods and also paid over market rates, but it was less than what I sold my city property for.
I feel horrible for people starting out. Houses are unaffordable now, even at 2% interest.

I'm in total agreement. I have a family member who has made very good financial choices. They have no significant debt and a good degree. They don't waste money and are valued in a quality career (though still early on in the career).
Still can't qualify for a home.
