It's a tiny town and really chill if you are chill. Nice parks, open space. Lots of trails, etc... Oh, there is a nice but small dinosaur museum too.

DO: Visit the area, Thermopolis specifically and stay at the Hot Springs Hotel and Spa (unless it has gotten crappy, then stay at the best western across the road). Drive up to Yellowstone for the day. Do check out the local park/pools and local hotsprings (even though the star plunge is closed).

Don't: Expect any event you do not specifically see going on. Many stores of any kind, even local. Fancy restaurants or a "night life" thing going on. Screw around in the thermal pools by the park. They are protected, you WILL get in trouble. Stay on the path, they are also there to protect you. Not just the area.

>Visitor counts at Hot Springs State Park are up year over year for January, February and March according to state officials, while lodging revenuesshow a noticeable downturn in overnight stays, according to the Office of Tourism. The outlook for tourism in Hot Springs County continues to show mixed signals, leaving some worried about how things will turn out for 2025 with the continued closure of the Star Plunge, which features indoor and outdoor mineral pools and hot tubs, at Hot Springs State Park. The attraction is embroiled in a legal dispute between Wyoming State Parks and the facility’s owner, Roland Leuhne, who has accused the state in a lawsuit of trying to cheat him.
