Well, if you are a pilot it pays to also be a proper aircraft mechanic. That is kind of bad ass though.

From the post:

>It's not every day when a plane lands in front of you on Interstate 25 but it happened on Saturday morning to Levi and Kelsi Dutton of Casper. The couple was driving down to Cheyenne for their daughter's softball game when they spotted a single engine airplane about 150 feet off the ground flying directly over the highway about 23 miles north of Cheyenne. "I was like, I'm pretty sure he's landing," Kelsi told Cowboy State Daily on Saturday afternoon.

Gotta do what's gotta be done I reckon. Cool.

Part of the original design requirements for interstate highways in the 1950s called for a certain percentage of the roadbeds to be straight and flat enough for use as emergency runways - where possible. Never saw any guidance on that in modern times though. From memory, that section of I-25 would definitely meet those criteria.

That section would also be windy as fuck-all most of the time and unless you really know what you are doing you would probably be dead trying to land anywhere near there. Then again, it is probably part of the reason he decided to land on the interstate rather than the field he thought he might be able to land in. The field might be far worse for a lot of reasons.
