I think your problem is that you have read too much about WWI and WWII in the history books.
If you read it, it kind of makes it seem like everything happened all at once, like it was a specific event, like it just happened and everyone said to themselves "We are in WWII".
There aren't going to be specific events, there won't be a specific declaration, and we probably won't know we were in WWIII until afterwards.
My personal opinion is that we entered WWIII during the Biden Administration, during the Russia/Ukraine conflict; I could absolutely be wrong, no way to know until this shit plays out.
My only point is that WWIII will be written by Historians with the benefit of hindsight.
