Greta Thunberg, who doesn't know her? As an icon of the lifestyle eco-youth and pioneer of the green destruction policy, she made headlines for years. The girl met with high-ranking politicians, US President Obama even called her "one of the greatest defenders of our planet" in 2019. With waving flags, she was twice nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. But the wind has turned.

"This is just radical nonsense."

  • says the Bildzeitung about a photo that was published on Greta's Twitter account. What happened to our saint? On Friday, 08.07, Greta forwarded a photo of a "Fridays for Future" group from Stockholm. She herself is not visible in the picture, but the sight of the demonstrators is typical: young people with colorful cardboard signs, holding up their slogans, smiling at the camera.

What used to be a welcome promotion for the Greens now seems to have developed in a politically unwelcome direction. On the left side of the picture a girl poses with the slogan:

"No to NATO, no to Russia, no to war!“

The single exclamation "No to NATO" can be seen in the middle. The background of these signs is the decision of Sweden and Finland to join the military alliance, NATO. On Tuesday, the 05.07. the accession decision was fixed, on Friday the post Gretas followed. The media landscape sees this behavior as a direct attack.

"This is not climate protection, but Kremlin protection.“

  • writes the image indignantly. The green hobby horse has torn itself out of the reins and is running in a completely wrong direction. How can it dare to equate NATO with the "inhuman" Russia, even to compare it?

A clear line is emerging in the general media landscape: our biggest enemy is no longer man-made climate change, but Putin! This is how it is in the political agenda, this is how it is done. What has recently played into the hands of green politics seems to have become a thorn in the side.

The Greens have a lot to thank Greta for. Without their climate hype, a new pop culture for the youth, they would never have achieved such high election results. "Fridays for Future" secured the Greens a gigantic popularity of the youth in the political power struggle. If the Greens still achieved 10.7 percent in the 2014 European elections (with a continuing downward trend), they doubled their values abruptly in the following election.

In 2019, when Greta's political media hype was gaining momentum, the value of the Greens was 20.5 percent. This is just one of the many examples that show the dimensions in which the FFF movement has reached particularly young voters.

Now the hype is over, the climate is only secondary. Now it is no longer the warm weather that should kill us, but the Russian president. One might have thought that Greta was informed about the enemy change, but either this was missed, or she is so panicked by the climate that she herself no longer listens to her orders.

There is a great fear that the climate icon will especially influence the young clientele in a direction that is not acceptable. A united front against Russia is required, one cannot afford to stir up resentment against NATO, the good guy in the game. Five million people follow Klima-Greta on Twitter, every teenager will have heard of her at least once.

When the supposed mouthpiece of the youth rises up against the master, caution is required. That is why she is currently portrayed negatively in all media. Where it used to be raved that Greta would take up with the adults and show them what they are doing wrong, now a clear edge is shown: in Russia, the FFF protesters would have been beaten up and arrested. The anti-NATO demonstration shows:

"The self-proclaimed world saviors lack a moral compass.“

Harsh words that the picture here gives of itself. However, they are just a sign of fear. Fear that the cases will float away from you. Fear that the planned, controlled youth uprising will mutate into a state-uncontrolled counter-movement. That the youth makes unwanted criticism. That the generally accepted tone is not followed.

Thus, the authorities have only two options: either they will get Greta under control again or they will try to completely saw off the Swede. So far, the tendency seems to be towards the latter, but everything else is to be seen.
