Being a communist regime they fully understand the power of propaganda, and it's power to shape impressionable young minds.
There is a difference between free speech and propaganda. Free speech comes with responsibility. For example, in the west there is a trend of race swapping historical characters which is intended to warp the publics perception of reality. That is propaganda masquerading as free speech.
The purpose of free speech is to propagate the truth.
Communist? No. Not any more. They're fascist.
Thank you this made me think. I looked at this cheat sheet and I think China is currently a hybrid of the two - https://www.diffen.com/difference/Communism_vs_Fascism
Perhaps, but it's definitely trending towards fascist
