I basically almost got fired yesterday for asking if my contractor account was going to be renewed. Since I got an automatic email last week from the company and the account is set to auto delete next week. Technically after "being told twice" I still don't have a definitive answer.

God I hate meeting hell. I have a coffee cup that says "I survived another meeting that should have been an email". Some people just love to hear the sound of their own voice while they waste everyone else's time.

Fun exercise. See how many people are in the meeting, look at the base salary for that role then let them know at the next meeting that the meeting they scheduled is costing $xxx per minute.

My boss does this shit regularly in his boss meetings. He'll tell them that we saved five minutes here, multiply that by two thousand servers, carry the one, and we are saving days of money.

A diversity hire (nigger) got a promotion over me on a project I started and built. Now the team needs strong leadership they’re not getting from her…I don’t want the team to fail, nor do I want my project to fail…. Lots of extra meetings.

On top of that, I want out. A diversity hire senior director has fucked up how we operate, so I’m going above and beyond to make a name for myself…hoping to get a bump to go somewhere else. Again…lots of extra meetings.

I once got severely penalized and basically fired for this. Pure engineering role. I figured a good supervisor didn't need me to tell them for them how well and what I did for the past year so I was pretty laissez-faire in my own written review. Well I was basically almost instantly fired. For the next three months they kept trying to stage "gotchas" and each time they just found out that I was a beyond excellent engineer and the trust was completely blown out on their side not mine.

The relationship was pretty destroyed but I'm a pretty 'all's well that is well' guy and I'm also a professional. However they could never forgive themselves for the damage they did. So they spent the next 2 years doing "constructive" dismal. By the time they were done I found out there is actually something beyond your soul that you can hate something with. Then they let me go with a company wide sweep of like 10% of the department at once with severance because obviously despite like 6 major staged attempts in the final 3 months, they couldn't pin fault on me at all.

You would think that, but ultimately, HR has the last say. Managers like numbers, and HR just wants any excuse to can you.
