Looks amazing. I am especially impressed with the detail on the mouth.
I usually give a light 400 grit sanding in between poly coats and wipe the dust with a damp lint free rag allowing 20 or so minutes to dry. After the last coat I'll hit it with light 600 grit or do the paper bag buffing on glossy stuff.

Yeah, I used a bandsaw. The first one I done was a wedding gift for my daughter. Had so much fun that I made a few more as gifts. I'll post some of the others later.
I get greater detail by using various files to shape the wood once the blank has been cut out with the bandsaw.

That's awesome. I have rasps and files but barely use them for whatever reason. I also have absolutely no hand plane skills and need someone to teach me how to properly use them.
