Decided to ditch the top rim and just put it directly on the frame after some (not enough, spot the shim) planing and sanding. Later on I'll put in a little shelf underneath, but I'm not too concerned with that at the moment. I'm working on the base for my new thrift store wood lathe now...

Oh man, I know. It was expensive for me at the time, but I use it for every project. It has been worth it.
