It's just doweled together. I tested the size before the glue, but you know how things can change. And yes, I am new. Appreciate the observation.
Right on, since your new I hope you don't mind a little advice. Screwing into the end grain makes a weak connection. You were good to put them there but you need more screws into the side grain for real strength. See picture.
I'm not saying to take out the red ones, just that they are not strong. Just add more screws to the side grain. Where the green circles are.
Total 2 screws on the small side, 4 on the big side. (Well, 6 on the big side counting the end grain screws)
Thanks for the feedback. I'll keep that in mind going forward. This project was just kind of a spur of the moment throw together, so I figured there were going to be some mistakes made. Somehow I only managed to mess up measurements on two planks, so that's an improvement from previous project attempts.
