I am a fan of Tolkien. I have read The Hobbit and The Lord Of The Rings. I liked the movies (even The Hobbit). I have no interest in this series. It looked like a stupid waste of time from the start.

I gave the first season a try. It was bad. The show looks great, you can tell they put money into it, but the story was awful. The acting didn't help either.
I was willing to give the second season a try if they took the criticism and improved, but all reviews said it was just as bad if not worse. I didn't bother watching it.
It's really a shame. As someone who read the LOTR three times and is a huge fan of the films, this a major disappointment and a lost opportunity.

I tried watching it. They have some great characters. The dwarves, some of the Orcs. The Hobbit characters have been completely destroyed. Gandalf is a retard. Fat black dwarf wife that sings as a weapon. (At least they got the shrieking sheboon partly right) Boring women taking men's parts and failing badly. Boring black elf character that can't act. They take DEI characters and try to fit them into a script meant for good actors that produce emotion. It falls so flat I couldn't pay attention. 3rd episode I quit. Car wrecks on YouTube are more entertaining.
