The listeners do have a somewhat of a purposed to listen BUT the presenter has a job to be not boring and give a riveting speech and to that end the presenter speaking is responsible to the audience in the same manner. Allen Greenspan brilliant mind is likely the more boring speaker I have ever listened to and his monotonous run on speaking tone is the problem, I cannot blame myself fully awake then dozing and fighting to not do it but his skills as an orator are lacking greatly.
