Microsoft surprised its Windows 10 user base with a sudden u-turn on ongoing security updates, essentially offering them to all home users for free until October 2026. I said at the time that this was a mistake. The extended security updates (ESU) should have been limited to users with older PCs, others should have been mandated to upgrade.

Oh fuck you Zac. Checking out this tool's article list he wants you to delete google data but upgrade to Win 11 for "security updates"? Do I want shit on wheat or white bread. Stupid fuckhead.

Everyone starts somewhere. He is on step 1. Most of us are on step 1488. And run templeos

Fuck Microsoft and their garbage. Windows 11 is one of the worst OS's that microsoft has ever put out.

Microsoft has kicked the can down the road, but when October 2026 approaches they either need to extend security support, or many people will jump ship for Linux.

Even if they extend support after that, if their next Windows version doesn’t remove all the Windows 11 problems they will lose people. Users skipped Vista and 8 because Microsoft put out a sane version later. If they don’t eventually relent this time they will lose people.

I flipped one of my laptops to Ubuntu, easy enough, and seems to work 99% out of the box. My other laptop I might try Mint. If I can it can do everything I need I my wind up with only my work computers on Windows or Mac.
