It's late in the season for strawberries and still early for cherries. Cherries are going into preserves if I don't get to them first. Strawberries will be made into marmalade, same caveat applies.

Not cheap here either. We paid €5 a kilo for self picked ones. You get cheaper, mostly Turkish ones, at the discounter but it's a nice activity.
I'm so jealous. Best cherry pie I ever made was from cherries I picked off a tree in Buncombe cty, n.c. I pulled my car over into a church yard, stood on the hood and picked cherries.

Late in the season? My strawberries are just starting to flower!!!
Maybe it's only this particular outfit, but it was the last day for strawberries and only the second day for cherries.
My elevation puts me way behind most areas.
