I'm pretty sure if he was a good actor he wouldn't be wasting his time sitting all day watching and listening to talentless psychopaths. He's not playing a bored asshole, he's just like that. Check out old videos of him from 30+ years ago. He changed overtime and got bored with his wealthy life.
