Nah. That stood out to me too. But, looking closer, I think there is a glass partition wall that casts a shadow on the left pillar, and can be discerned as slightly darker when looking at the light cast from the sliding glass doors. Can maybe see a little of it in the room balcony below. But yeah, without the glass, that's like a knee-high wall.
