First, the background wasn't dark, it was light blue and White and the lettering was White.
Don't change it on my account, as I could really care less if anyone can read it, including me.

You're probably using Poal's gray theme, and I'm only using the dark one, which doesn't have that issue.
You can throw your tomatoes at @WilhelmVonDoobiest. He did that theme.
