Was visiting Frontier Park in St. Charles, MO Friday, and they have a statue of Lewis & Clark there at the place where the expedition started. In addition to the statue, there were plaques and bronze busts for several of their team members - including Colter. I'd heard of him before, but wasn't real familiar with all he did. An interesting subject!

He is buried near New Haven, MO some 30 miles upstream along the Missouri River. Will put the locale on my list of things to see.

Now, ask yourself: if a mountain man told you the story of a place, deep in the mountains of the American West, where water spewed from the ground with such force and heat that the Earth shook beneath your feet, would you believe him?
