My mind was blown when I was staying in a cabin up on a mountain. Took a drive down to where they had a post office I had gotten a box at for a few months. Inside was a take what you need, give what you can area of food and toiletries. The whole few months I stayed up there, there was never an instance when you saw someone had cleaned it out like a greedy ass hole.

Sign of a high trust community - pretty much leave something out in the open with no expectation of anything and it stays there (or people take only what they need).
