My neighbor bought the house next to me about 2 years ago. A nice young white couple. Couple weeks after he moved in I had them over for BBQ. Since then I've loaned him tools and helped out from time to time, like when a storm blew a tree down. He's also someone who gets bottles of wine that I brew. I get to test new recipes on them. Either way, I get a text from him yesterday asking if I were home, but I happened to be at the hardware store. Told him I'd be home soon and asked why. He didn't respond. I get home and find a large package on my doorstep with a note saying thank you for being the best neighbor ever and for all my help. He noticed I had a compost pile that I turned with a pitchfork, but no barrel turner so he bought new one for me as a thank you/early Christmas gift. He left it before leaving town for the day.

Then I get home after work today and find a wine box with empty bottles in it and a note with a $50 gift card in it. It's from an older neighbor couple on the other side. Saying thank you for being a good neighbor and sharing my wine hobby with them. Telling me I have a knack for my "hobby".

I don't get emotional very easily, but I'm touched. I don't do things because I expect something, I do them because it's right. I treat others how I want to be treated, until you give me reason otherwise. 2 days in a row?! I'm feeling humbled.

Where I'm from we'd simply say "that's mighty White of you." We should bring this statement back in style.

See.. this is where you blur the lines. I know you guys have a caste system and idolize White tone over darker ones like east Asians want round eyes or blue eyes like us.

Your youtube link at the end isn't me at all.. I worked hard as a White Eurpoean son of White people to grow up, respect and work hard. No privileges whatsoever. The only things we have in common that I know of is we both respect Hitler and we both were born overseas.

By the way, here is where you implied White privilege in a ridiculously stupid way. You never said it verbatim but you implied it 100%.

In charge of what? Doing the work instead of moaning on the Internet about how the easy life wasn't handed to you because you were born white

It's in this exact thread. Me and you both are immigrants. The difference is, I respect the people that hosted me. As I am most likely one of many other Whites that worked hard like my family did to live here.

Your attitude as a brown skinned foreigner living in a White land and making comments like the one I quoted from you are why I disrespect you. Respect thebcountry you're in and its native people. Otherwise you should be forcibly removed.

When in Rome.

Get some respect for your White European hosts. Diversity doesn't mean shit but the closest definitions I can think of.. (get your dictionary)

  • respect
  • humbleness
  • gratitude
  • thankfulness
  • security

You only understand the last one.

Enjoy your White granted Indian privilege.
