Ultimately, he simply got outplayed by dirty kikes - and no-one else in Russia at the time had the wherewithal to step up and save him, despite many allegedly wanting to, he was also completely ditched by his own Royal Cousin on the English throne (and his Royal relatives elsewhere) who refused to give him and his family refuge and asylum and then cut off all official correspondence over the matter basically citing 'Would be a bad public optics - you're on your own'.

His brother was the Grand Duke Michael Alexandrovich of Russia, following the Russian Revolution of 1917, he too was imprisoned and murdered. Tsar Nicholas's wife was grand daughter to queen Victoria, and his first cousin at the time was King George V of the United Kingdom.
