If I had to take Vegas odds, I'd say it's Edgar Degas. He was well known for painting ballet dancers quite often

That brush pattern is not really his style though.

Agreed. I went through Mary Cassat also cause I know he influenced her and vice versa. Art style doesn't match her either, and the model looks fairly modern. But Degas jumped to mind instantly because of the subject of the painting

Palette knife and brush. Could well be a contemporary artist.

That was my impression (ahem). The use of light and elegant detail of her face is complementary juxtaposed with the 19th centuryness of her dress, back and background. Beautiful piece.

Yeah. that’s a very nice painting. I wish I knew the artist.
