I hated country music too. Mostly cause in the 80s and 90s it really was shit. If you really like music though there's some crazy good gems hidden in that genre.
Getting your ass kicked at life a lil bit with age makes some of it resonate more too.
I really cant stand the whole "she left me, stole my dog, slashed my tires and crashed my truck, but at least i got a beer" shtick, sung in the same twangy shitty voice.
And fuckin Reba.... thats an accent that makes my brain drip from my ears, i can feel myself becoming stupider listening to it.
But yea there are a few gems i spose. Charlie Daniels is great. I dont consider johnny cash country but apparently lots of people do, and he was great. The country station on GTA 5 is pretty great actually too haha
Yeah the "tear in my beer" stuff turned me off country for a good 20 years. Pisses me off more that I wrote off a lot of good stuff because of it.
And lol yeah reba's almost a caricature with that voice. I used to only have like 4 channels and I swear they all showed that commercial for her show. "You're watching reeba yeehaw"
I would probably not hate country if it wasnt for that stuff. I mean shit, i think Convoy is a great song, can i really say i hate country if i like that?
