I love a good story, being taken to a place where reality fades away and wonder and excitement are the norm. As I wandered the isles and looked at the interesting titles and scoffed at the blatant PC push infesting new titles I came to the realization that my entire reading life was solely derived from my desire to escape from reality instead of facing it. I am still processing this experience and trying to sort it out. I have escaped from reality for far too long.

The stuff in barnes & noble is too low level for an adult to really learn anything from it. It's highly, highly curated by leftists, which makes for a really boring selection. Try your local used bookstores and be pleasantly surprised. But bear in mind that used bookstores can also be curated. I had a nasty surprise when I found out one of my local used bookstores was a communist front.
