I used to do that but when I broke I splurged. I now give myself a bit every once in a while to get rid of the urge. I also don't eat at McDonalds much but I will go in and get a small fry every now and then.
That's actually a good idea, I don't really get strong urges for anything, so that helps me. However, you will have to keep an eye on it, as you could just suddenly indulge excessively one day, in my opinion, it's why so many people get fat and stay fat, not calling you fat however lol.
I have a gut but it's pasta and potatoes that are my weakness. I still eat like when I worked out a bit. I used to eat 10K calories a day just to maintain, now I"m at about 3K and still dropping slowly.
