Oh no, no. First, you need to get some serious olives and a decent shaker. Then get some decent gin like Bombay Sapphire and vermouth (forgot the good one). That's pretty much it. I was in a martini club for a while, ha ha ha! Group of us would show up with all the bottles and try different kinds. Gin / vermouth is the best in my opinion. They are an acquired taste, but whoah Nelly you get fuuuuuucked up! Ha ha ha!

FWIW, I always liked adding a dash of olive juice. And for olives, if you are into olives, do be shy. You can put 3-6 olives in there. They soak up the booze and make it more interesting, especially after the first martini!
I like black olives does that count? Honestly I don't think I've ever had the green kind.
