Boone lies. I am a retired aerospace guy. One of the many projects I worked was as a key player on a firmament cracking Team. The trick wasn't so much in cracking the firmament with an ICBM or rocket launch ... it was in resealing the crack after penetration. The same was true on reentry. Beyond that, due to the security debriefing papers I had to sign when retiring, I can't divulge more details.
