A t-shirt with a tough guy slogan (originally uttered by someone else) and image, and some tats. All on a professional model photographed in a studio.. There is not a single sincere thing in this image; it is propaganda nothing more. The same sentiment could be expressed in a fortune cookie and it would have the same weight, ie. none.
Do not be persuaded by superficial and borrowed displays of bravery and manliness; Inner strength is not purchased and worn. Character comes from experience and self-reflection and personal integrity, not from the Mall.
It's not inner strength it's about. It's about this old guy can beat or kill you so beware. It's the old guys are tougher than they appear. I was 25 working in a ditch laying drainage pipe with a 63 year old. The guy yelled get your ass moving. The guy next to me said you better get moving, he has a temper and will kick your ass. I found out later the old fuck would go and get into bar fights and walk out without a scratch. I worked with another one ex marine, I was trying to get a 500 lb tarp up on the flatbed, it was like 70 ft long. He got pissed walked over and actually started tossing it a little at a time onto the edge. I just stood there with my mouth open. I was strong but this guy was inhumanly strong. I found out by the young guy that was the coworker for years and the old guy got accidentally hit in the head from a nail gun and pulled the nail out and just went back to work, now that's old school tough.
That's my point. None of those guys you describe needed to wear a t-shirt with some 'bad boy' graphic or sport 2 full sleeve tattoos to proclaim his toughness. They didn't have to. And frankly I guarantee they never would have.
Toughness... inner strength... character... spirit... call it what you will, it's all the same thing.
It was a statement for the image is all. Get over yourself and quit overanalyzing shit because it was just making a point most young punks don't take into account like that mexican that got his ass handed to him by that old guy in that video that was posted.
