The sad thing is a lot of the new users that did stay might think the site is dead. It's not dead. You just need to look at /all/new for the next couple days.

And if you do those items will have visibility, and will get upvoted, and we will get out of this funk quicker.

You can make it not happen based on the hotness algorithm. The hotness setup for notabug.io is pulled from open source reddit, and it's pretty good at churning through content even when it gets a disproportionately large amount of upvotes (which happens often when people can vote as much their CPU allows)

It's a tradeoff though, between better highlighting/distinguishing the "best" content and keeping things fresh.
