Damn me! I had a busy week or two, we have been fighting with our landscapers for a month now and our backyard is now finally getting into shape. They first showed up and promised that they were going to flatten the whole thing out but they only came with 5 guys and some shovels; our backyard is hilly and misshapen. We have an area where we are going to put an above ground pool that has to be literally flat and after the landscapers first visit they left it very un-flat.

After a month of calls and threats to not pay them they finally came back today (with a backhoe and competent people (the owner of the company was actually out there all day) and now it is looking good. This is a typical thing here in CZ, contractors promise one thing and then deliver something far substandard and tell the customer that this is "normal". Well fuck them, we forced them to live up to their contract, pay for the extra equipment and people and live up to their end of the bargain (with no extra cost to us)! It's really funny actually, my Wife was all over their shit today saying "My Husband said that this little hill has to be leveled!" or "My Husband said that he wants the pool area to be moved 15 centimeters to the right!!

Fucking lol, the landscapers all know that I'm American, they just figured that I was an extreme asshole... and American. They did the work though and at the end of the day admitted to my Wife that they normally charge Czech customers twice as much for this level of work. Namely, the level of work that they put into their contract.

Later, I was at my local drinking with my other contractor who is doing some construction work for us and I told him about how my Misses was blaming me for all of the hell that they went through today to live up to their part of the bargain and he just laughed. They called me that "bastard American" for making them do their work. I'm OK with that BTW.

Totally professional job that literally none of their other customers have ever gotten simply because we wouldn't accept less. The sod grass gets rolled out on Thursday.

edit: open link in new tab, it's a big one!
