Just look up a Russian/Ukrainian food store near you. Or if that doesn't work, Imported Euro food store. It's all cheap like this, and it's all organic stuff.

People make fun of Russians, but they're grocery stores are so cheap!

Skokie is the Jew capital of Illinois. In 1977 Nazis chose it for a march that made world wide news, because it was claimed that one out of six residents of Skokie were Holocaust survivors, at that time. The population was just under 65,000. So, I expect there to be plenty of jewish food there.

I didn't see any jew food but I only hit the Russian store.

He's just calling it jew food because eastern jews eat kasha too. They call it kashi, though, like the cereal brand (run by jews)

Never knew that, must have been something they adopted when they migrated to the east.

Is that some form of cereal? Looks like grape-nuts. Not trying to diss the ethnic food, just curious. I like food, almost all food.

I guess ethnic food is relative, to me pizza is ethnic.

It's buckwheat, just a type of grain commonly eaten in Eastern Europe. Probably the most basic thing to eat. In western films about Russia or the east they always show people being served borsch as if it's a bad thing or a poor thing but borsch is loved by all there. The real poor man's food is boiled buckwheat and vodka. Warms you up and absorbs the alcohol like crazy.

Most all cultures have a dish like this, made from what ever cereal grain that grows in that area. Cheap, easy to make and filling. Used to fill farmers and soldiers bellies for thousands of years.
