Censorship is only meant to do one thing, escalate tension. There are only two methods used for persuasion. The first is speech. You can try to argue a point with another individual in attempt to convince them that your way of thinking is correct. The second is violence. When talking isn't enough you can either give up on trying to push your view or you can force your view. By censoring free speech the first means of persuasion is effectively off the table. Leaving only two options surrender or physical conflict. Don't kid yourselves for even a second, those people in the world with both the power and the will to censor views are completely aware of all of this.
