Nope, poal was created by me, after the great voat outtage. Puttitout didn’t care and I didn’t want there to be no place to go so I said fine I’ll do it myself, about a week later I brought it online, then showed up and helped me brand the whole thing and the rest is history.

'Putt didn't care' was in reference to the great Voat outage where it was down for a couple days and he didn't know, or seem to care. That was the thing that drove me away and many others. Before that he was never around anyway ... and now that he is, the place seems to be on an endless downhill slide IMHO

Sounds like an emulation forum I was on. If the guy didn't make money he basically said fuck everything. He got the users including me to mod, some to code and others to update the archives so he basically was there to fix Debian if it crashed. I liked the place back then because I was helping out but all in all he used the fuck out of everyone and he made the money for ads on the site and shit. And he started selling shit from asia but found the profits sucked and whined about that also. He was more of a pain in the ass with a bit of arrogance to him like he was the greatest ever and everyone on the site were his peons.

Well I don't sell anything and I do quite a bit more than just fix linux if it crashes. I've not made any money here(a little bit here and there has come in) but its all just gone towards server costs, so most all of this is out of my own pocket and I'm okay with that.

I might stick around for a while considering Putt and cynies are starting to clean the house. Did you know peaceseeker is a vat shill? Yeah... those guys are bogus. Most of us are former goats we all left for one reason or another. Personally I saw each wave of redditfugees shitting up the place more and more over the years. The SBBH guys did a bunch of annoying shit. Then voat went down repeatedly over the course of a few months. Then it was down for like 2weeks. At that point I was fed up and I saw made his own site so I jumped ship and haven't been back since. This place is nice. It's like voat was when I first joined it and I love the community feeling. You can say whatever you want but there is lots of non political non hateful content as well. I like a mix of content so this site is perfect for me. I hope you enjoy yourself

What PMYB2 said. Voat was down hard for two weeks. People thought the Feds shut it down or the plug was otherwise pulled.

Later some goats found that the dev voat site was working so people started posting there, but the real Voat was still down.

The original owner, Atko, sniffed around and indicated that Voat could easily be brought back online by Putt, and he reached out to Putt using the only way he knew how (Twitter). It was days before it was brought back up by Putt though.

During the outage PMYB2 created a temporary backup refuge, which later grew into this site. It started as just a place for lost Goats to go.

Once Voat was back online and Putt finally made a post to try and explain his absence (he literally said he had been ignoring the site and effectively burned out), a number of goats left, some deleting their accounts (like myself).

It sounds like Poal is the real voat.

Edit: and I recall all of this happening but it’s good to just hear it’s origns spelled out.
