I work in healthcare and many of the people on Medicaid are such pieces of shit even their family wants nothing to do with them. Yet the government is obligated to care for them. It's better how you describe. It forces people to be somewhat accountable for themselves.

It helps keep people in line. Even the biggest pieces of shit are required to at least pretend to be decent and charitable, if only as a matter of self interest. The second we replaced community with government, everything started going to shit.
