We tried doing it away where it where I live and it always gets defeated in the legislative branch. I will never understand why. It's the biggest unnecessary inconvenience out there.

In New Mexico, the bill to eliminate DST (nmlegis.gov) passed in the House but our legislative sessions are pretty short (60-day session this year), this legislative session ends on March 16h, and it's still not gotten through the Senate committees it was assigned to yet.

I still think in the long run the world would be better off just going on UTC. Then adjust the schedules, store, working hours, etc, as needed for the region you live in.
