Unlike fear of pain or death, fear of the unknown is not intrinsic to human nature; it is wholly dependent on the history of the individual. If the unknown has been rewarding, one will not fear the unknown. But, if the unknown has been cruel, one will fear it. The latter case is the one in which most people fall. When pitted against the unknown, we are akin to the novice attempting a masterpiece; while creating a masterpiece on one's first try is possible, it is highly improbable.

Thus, to halt this fear from ever developing, children should be exposed to the unknown in a safe and controlled setting. In this way, the child cannot fail. A positive outcome to the unknown will be seen as a victory, but a negative outcome will also be a victory from the learning opportunity it presents. The child, however, will need guidance to discover the lesson to be learned.

I like it, except the controlled environment thing, I prefer the throw em into it and see how they do approach and guide them afterwords no better way to learn something than to do it in my experience.
