Indians eat some of the most rancid and/or spiciest foods to be found, which should make it exceptionally easy for animals to smell human territory as Indians quite literally defecate and urinate everywhere in their general area. From what I've seen aside for the rarest of encounters with Europeans, most animals prefer to avoid humans, so I'm left to wonder how badly have these people deforested the area for the Elephants to be compelled to wander into human areas to forage.
